Beafsteak Fungus


Beafsteak fungus is known by the botanical name Fistulina hepatic

 

Description of Beafsteak Fungus

It grows on old oak or chestnut trees

They appear between August and October. It is a large red fungus that grows to 20-40cm/8-16in. The fruit is tongue shaped, rough, sticky but becomes drier and smoother with age. Yellow pores exude blood like juice
